Heroes fanfiction has sort of taken over my life, so I don't know when my next icon post will be. Most likely it'll be Heroes Sylar/Mohinder icons though (I have 10 or so screencaps set aside for use when I get a chance).

X-Posted a lot, sorry if I cluttered up your flist...

I wasn't going to make tutorials, but I got asked for two in one of my recent icon posts (thank you for your enthusiasm nishya, I wouldn't have made this without you). This one, and another of Orihime, which I may do later, but it was a lot more complicated and I don't know that it would work well as a tutorial. We'll see.

This tutorial is a mix of icon-specific and transferable steps. For example, once I made this icon I tried the same techniques and created the following two icons. They were not step-by-step the same, but the techniques and concepts were.

This is a list of all resources I use for my icons, I have separated them into two categories, so that you can better find what you might be looking for.

At this point I have too many brushes and textures to keep track of which I have actually used, and on what icons; so this is a list of all the ones I have downloaded. The newer ones I might not even have used yet but probably will at some point.

Also, I must give credit to bleach_icontest for providing the links that ultimately pointed me towards all of these resources.

Hello and welcome to neshel's icon journal!

I opened this account for several reasons. The biggest is actually a privacy issue, I follow a lot of icon communities and icon artists and wanted them on my friends page, but didn't want them seeing my private posts. The solution is to keep them on this journal's friend's page! So this journal serves visitors a dual purpose in that the flist will be filled with nothing but icon posts!

This keeps my personal flist cleaner, and my privacy intact. In consideration for you visitors, don't worry about friending this page, I won't friend anyone back, only the icon communities/artists I've chosen for whatever reason.

The other obvious reason, is to have all my icons in one place! Easily accessible, easier to navigate, and in my odd way if feels more professional, or maybe just "right".

Should I ever get into creating other types of graphics (wallpapers, textures, brushes etc.) they will have a home here as well, but don't expect to see anything but icons. If I do crank out something different it'll just be a nice surprise. ^_^

Now, in order to celebrate the grand opening of this journal I'm going to do something special.

When I first started icon-making it was years ago on the ASMR message boards, and the icons I posted there are pretty much lost to history. Unfortunately, being my first icons, they're not all that great, and I've hidden them mostly out of a sort of embarrassment. However, I wanted to post all my icons from LJ in one big post here, and decided Heck! why not post them all?

What this eventually became, therefore, is a view of my growth as an icon maker; but instead of a small selection of icons this will include them all. There are some icons missing, lost to the mists of time (and hard drive failure) but most of them are here. Don't worry though, I wasn't very prolific back then and while this post will be image heavy, it's still smaller than some simple icon dumps I've seen. ^_^

So please, sit back and enjoy.
